Target to anchor $60 million Midtown apartment development
A developer announced on Thursday that it has secured a Target store to anchor its $60 million apartment development near St. Louis University in Midtown.
Local developer Pier Property Group said Target Corp. is aiming to open in July 2023 at Pier’s new development The Edwin, a proposed 196-unit apartment project at South Grand Boulevard between Gratiot and Papin streets in Pier’s Steelcote Square. It will mark Target’s second location in St. Louis and its 21st in the metro area.

The developer turning the Steelcote Paint Company Building into a 33-unit loft apartment complex plans more residential projects in the industrial area next to St. Louis University.
Next up is the Columbia Oil building just to the south of the Steelcote building, where Hamburg said he plans a $4 million rehab into 15 lofts and ground floor space for a brewery or distillery. And over the summer, Hamburg hopes to break ground on a $20 million, 96-unit apartment building branded as Mill Creek Flats.
Midtown developer pitches $45M project in Maryland Heights
Pier Property Group (PPG), known for its multifamily redevelopments in Midtown, is planning a $45 million luxury apartment development in Maryland Heights.
It marks the first venture outside of St. Louis city limits for the company, which was behind the Woodward Lofts and Steelcote Square District.
In Maryland Heights, PPG has plans for a four-story, 218-unit luxury apartment development called The Flats at Dorsett Ridge.
164-unit loft project on Vandeventer moves ahead
Developers are moving ahead with plans to turn a factory at the intersection of Vandeventer and Tower Grove avenues into a 164-unit apartment building.
Pier Property Group closed on the $5.1 million purchase of the building at 1519 Tower Grove Avenue last month, and construction on the $40 million Woodward Lofts development should start by the end of September.
